John Lombardo knew that paradise lay beneath his parking lot; and he invested over a quarter million dollars just to prove it! All traces of the blacktop located at the north side of Branches is gone, and the romantic outdoor Waterfall Garden, with a seven foot high waterfall, several gentle pooling areas and a 60-foot endless stream now graces the space. For John, the waterfall with two streams of water flowing together at its peak represents the union of a wedding couple or the coming together of groups of people and corporations in celebration. There is also a raised stone rosette nestled into the waterfall area perfect for reciting vows and to serve as a focal point for photos or a speaker or presentation.

According to John, several trends motivated him to undertake the big bucks project for the enjoyment of Branches’ clients and their guests.

John says, “There are a growing number of couples who want their wedding ceremony to take place at the reception site. A waterfall garden offers a romantic backdrop for a wedding ceremony or reception. Additionally, more people today want their private parties to take place at a facility that specializes in catered events rather than a hotel or restaurant. We felt the demand was there for a beautiful outdoor setting for both weddings and private parties.”

Branches’ quarter-acre Waterfall Garden was designed by Nelson Engineering, Wanamasa and landscaping was designed by Melillo and Bauer, Point Pleasant, with over 150 trees including Weeping Alaskan Cypress, Mount Batten Junipers, Japanese Tsuma Gaki and Cut-leaf Maple trees, as well as specimens from the local area.
